God finds ways to amaze us.  Well, “finds” isn’t exactly the word I need.

God amazes me.

I had entered a poetry contest and forgot all about it.  Kind of typical for me, I suppose.  But in the mail last week I got a notice that the winners had been chosen and  notified.  Obviously, I wasn’t notified.  Oh well, nice try.

But the next paragraph said that my entry had been selected for the next step of the editorial process:  the market review.

And a contract to sign and return to them.

I had made my submissions and moved on with life.  And all the while, God was moving that piece along.  And gave me a beautiful surprise with the letter.

As God chooses to advance or stop the piece, it’s His work.  I am blessed to receive the recognition that it has so far.

Poem from Long Ago

I was reading some poems I wrote in high school…thought I’d share one because it’s still so true.

such unworthiness

Lord, You are my
only King.
To You I give
I have very little
on this earth,
but please take it
for what it’s worth.
I rule no kingdoms;
I own no gold;
I have no fame,
yet I am sold.
For You loved me
at Gethsemane
and then You bought me
by dying on the tree.
I am only a poor,
weak creature.
But inside of  me
is a special feature.
Within me is
the soul You bought.
That soul for which
You diligently fought.
Yes Lord, now
my soul You own;
the only worthy thing
I may bring to Your throne.

keeping up

The hurrieder I go the behinder I get.

That’s what’s happening in my house today. I have been doing tons and tons of writing lately. Oh, you say you didn’t see those posts? Well, the writing I’ve been doing isn’t the fun stuff that you see on havenlife. I’m writing a brief for our upcoming case. The brief is due on November 23, but reality says it has to be sent by noon on Saturday because ….

Next week is our anniversary getaway!!!!! 25…25…..25…repeated three times–25 Years married; more than half my life; married longer than single….married! And we’re celebrating next week!

But in the meantime, I’ve got to keep up with all that has to be done this week; preparing for women’s ministry event Saturday night, preparing for a funeral service Sunday, preparing the house for my being gone and mom running things for the duration….

Hopefully, I’ll nose into the lead enough to pack some bags!

Hang in there with me as I get through this very chaotic week, settle in for a relaxing week, and then return to pick up where I lfet off!

Dream tucked away …

Research … it seems to be a vital part of my life.

I’ve researched homeschool curriculum, vaccination information, SBA loans, boomerang children, contemporary Christian music, formaldehyde, medicaid laws, how septic tanks work, the Federal Register …

And now, I’m researching the feasibility of taking journalism classes to pick up on a dream tucked away to make time for living.  I’ve started down this path and I can’t see where it will take me, but the first curve seems to be that people serious about their desire to write utilize the “blogging” outlet.  I’m not sure the pro’s and con’s of this medium as yet, but the adventure begins!
